This paper presents a project proposal for modernizing the railway between Suceava and Vatra Dornei in Northern Romania to support sustainable tourism. Even though the Bucovina region is famous for its culture and nature, tourism growth is limited because the trains are old and slow, and most tourists travel by car. To solve this problem, we propose a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, where the government collaborates with private companies to invest in modern trains and historical train stations. The project promotes the "Slow Travel" concept, which is eco-friendly and matches the European Green Deal. We suggest introducing green hydrogen or hybrid trains, a single digital "Bucovina Pass" QR code for transport and museums, and smart tourism solutions. By modernizing this mountain railway, the project aims to reduce pollution from cars, help local rural economies (like Frasin, Pojorâta, or Mestecăniș), and offer a premium experience to international tourists. Ultimately, this infrastructure study shows how a better train connection can develop the entire tourism economy in the region.
